Honors English 11 Tuesday, May 1st

You guys started with your new sub today...my brother. please be good!!! I had my baby and am preoccupied with her--I need to hear positive results from school!

On your schedule it says you have a compare/contrast essay due next time (thursday). However, I'm changing that to an in class test on "Cry, the Beloved Country" and "Invictus"which you will take in class on Thursday, May 3rd

In order to do well on this exam, please bring the following things with you to class on Thursday:

  • pink analysis packet
  • compare/contrast outline from class on Friday, April 27
  • Topic, Therme, Thesis handout from class on Tuesday, April 30
  • Your copy of "Cry, the Beloved Country" novel

English 10 Friday, April 20

Begin class by reviewing the commonly confused words- students had to write a paragraph of their choice using all of the commonly confused words correctly.

Next, we reviewed the root words in preparation for a quiz during the period

Finally, students worked on finding examples of the literary terms in preparation for the CRT test next time.

Homework: review commonly confused words, root words, and lit. terms.

Honors 11 Thursday, April 19

Today we finished watching the movie "Invictus"
We worked in small groups to continue analyzing both the film and the novel on your pink papers.

We also reviewed the root words and commonly confused words

Today we continued working on commonly confused words.
We also began memorizing the root words in preparation for your CRT test next week.

Honors 11 Tuesday, April 17

Here's what we did in class today:

  • Students worked in small groups to fill out their pink analytical packets for the reading they did over the break--students should've focused on the two new characters we met from the reading: Arthur and James Jarvis.
  • Students watched another 20 minutes of the film "Invictus" then met again with small groups to analyze the film.
  • Students spent the rest of the period memorizing the root words in preparation for the CRT test next week. There will be a quiz on these roots next time in class!!!
Homework: Read chapters 22 through 25 and memorize roots.
