1- First we went to the little gym to have pictures taken
2- We read the article from the Washington post entitled "One in Four Read No Books Last Year."

3- We answered the following questions as a group/class discussion:
- Why do you think the Author wrote this article? In other words, what is the main point?
- What details/facts did he use to support his main point?
- What are some reasons people gave for not reading
- What are solutions to those specific problems
As a class, we talked about our own reasons we aren't reading more. We brainstormed/discussed possible solutions to those problems.
4- I introduced "The 30 Book Challenge"--Each student at Lone Peak has been challenged to read 30 books by the end of the year. They can be any book the students wants. Students can count assigned reading books as well, but most of the books should be ones the students WANT to read. They will not earn points; This is a challenge to promote life-long readers.
5- We went to the library to familiarize ourselves with the library and possibly check out a book.
Homework: Every student must bring a book to class next time--a book of their choice that they want to read for 15 minutes a day every class period.
