Objective: Who is a Victorian Gentleman? How does Stevenson show characterization throughout his novel?
1- We practiced learning names. The name quiz is coming up and we've got to get names down.
2- In small groups, we worked on analyzing who exactly is a Victorian Gentleman. Using our the article and the novel, we completed the following graphic organizer:

You only need three examples (three of the five rules per character) Do not put 3 examples in each box! That is too much and would take you a long time.
3- In class prompt-- Answer the following question:
"What does it take to be a "Victorian Gentleman?" Does truly such a man exist, and if so, is Dr. Jekyll one? What about Hyde? Use words, phrases, and examples from the text to support your thoughts.
Paragraph format: The Quote Sandwich!
1- Begin with a thesis or claim---Must be arguable.
2- Follow with an example from the text--quote or paraphrase
3-Analyze/Explain HOW that quote proves your thesis/claim.
Always tie things back to your thesis!
If you were absent this day, you've got to do the chart on your own and answer the short answer prompt in a half page to 3/4 page response. (Can be hand-written)
Homework: Check Skyward- your grades are updated. If you are missing work due to absences or not turning things in, consider getting caught up. The rest of you, enjoy the long weekend!
