British Lit--Friday, November 8

Objective: How does fear affect the boys in Lord of the Flies

1- Book Talks

2- Students responded to the following quote, "A Man nor a crowd nor a nation can be trusted to act humanely or to think sanely under the influence of fear." Bertrand Russell
If you were absent, you'll need to do this in your notes behind the "Lost" prompt.
As a class, we compiled a list of the various ways people act out of fear.

3-Watched three short clips from "Scare Tactics" and analyzed if real people reacted the way they predicted. The class realized that, for the most part, people who are genuinely afraid do act irrational, selfish, and do things they wouldn't normally consider doing.

4-Students wrote an in-class essay. If you were absent, you will have to make this up within a week. Come at lunch.

Homework: Read chapters 9&10 and complete reading questions
