Objective: What are the symbols in Lord of the Flies?
1- Students discussed the various things they liked/disliked about the ending. If you were absent, write a prompt discussing your feelings about the ending of the novel.
2- Students divided into groups of three. Each group was given a symbol, which they analyzed for ten minutes. After coming up with their own ideas, students were given hints (other critics' ideas) about each symbol. Students prepared a brief lesson to give to the rest of the class.
3- Students taught the rest of the class about their symbols.
