I was absent today but the sub went over the following things:
Objective: Who were the Puritans?
1- The word Puritan was on the board. Students broke into small groups of 2-3 and brainstormed as many associations they could with the word "Puritan."--Meaning they could write down any person, place, thing (ANY WORD) that you personally associate with Puritans.
2- Write all the words up on the board and group them together in categories--then label them.
3- Next, hand out the essay "Sinners in the hands of an Angry God." Read and annotate (take notes to the side) on the essay. When you are finished, answer the following question: "Based on the essay and the Puritan views, how do you think they would have handled witchcraft?"
